Liquidambar formosana
Liquidambar formosana, commonly known as “sweet gum,” produces a resinous substance that, through steam distillation, is used to create the essential oil known as liquidambar, celebrated for its wide range of remarkable properties.
While primarily known for its benefits when applied topically, it is also often used aromatically to promote a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Liquidambar essential oil has a high boiling point, making it an effective fragrance fixative in perfumery. Thus, it serves as a unique scent agent and can be found in some premium perfumes.
– Diffusion: Add 3-4 drops to a diffuser or aroma spray.
– Topical use: Apply 1-2 drops to the desired area. May be diluted with dōTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil to minimize skin sensitivity.
