September has arrived, bringing with it the familiar challenge for parents – what snack to pack that’s healthy, delicious, and easy to grab on busy school mornings? Instead of turning to store-bought treats loaded with sugar, try making homemade granola bars. Packed with nutrients, satisfying, and kid-friendly, they make the perfect school-day companion.
Ingredients:
- 200 grams oats
- 40 grams rice crispies
- 80 grams of mini chocolate chips
- 50 grams brown sugar
- pinch of salt
- 25 grams coconut flakes
- 15 grams flax seed
- 15 grams sesame seed
- 15 grams chia seed
- 45 grams coconut oil
- 85 grams honey
- 10 drops Madagascar Vanilla
- 5 drops Tangerine
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180° C.
- Mix all dry ingredients together. Set aside.
- Mix all wet ingredients together. Melt in a pan over medium heat.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Mix uniformly.
- Allow wet ingredients to absorb into dry ingredients.
Tip: If mixture is too dry, add more coconut oil or honey; if too wet, add more oatmeal.
- Line cake pan with parchment paper. Pour in mixture and pat down. Slice into desired portions before baking.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes or until lightly brown.
